Classic Caesar Salad

This is one of my favorite salads and it is so simple to make.

It originates in Mexico but was created by an Italian with the only ingredients he has available, the only ingredient used today that was not originally in this salad is anchovies.

Ingredients-

  • 3 romaine lettuce

  • 1/2 Small tin of anchovies

  • Caesar dressing-(see recipe)

  • Cracked black pepper

  • 1 bulb Roasted garlic

  • 6 slices of back bacon-optional

  • 1 small French stick

  • 100g Shaved parmesan.

Some recipes also include soft boiled eggs.

METHOD-

First cut the bread into good size pieces for the croutons.

Place them on a baking tray add some garlic cloves, a little salt and pepper and some olive oil. Bake for 10 minutes until crisp.

wash the lettuce leaves and drain thoroughly, place in a bowl and using the bowl only not your hands, toss the leaves with, a few anchovies, fried bacon and Parmesan. Season with pepper.

One croutons are cooked, allow to cool, then add to the salad along with a couple of spoons of the dressing and some roasted garlic cloves.

Serve in a chilled bowl, with extra Parmesan and anchovies.

A common addition is roast chicken.

HAPPY COOKING!!!
